Having a rough idea of what is under the seat tank in those housings, there are a couple of gear compartments, left & right, then forward the bevel gear compartment, so if just the back side and someome left that cover off, maybe it's not too bad, but you will be in there cleaning and flushing it out.

It sounds like something was removed from the back, possibly a cable control unit, shaft and all, hard to say without seeing photos, you should take and post some here.

Could be an expensive venue, challenging to say the least. I don't think most old machinery enthusiasts appreciate seeing them covered in vegetation and falling prey to the weather elements, so I can understand your plight here, after spotting one like this. Hours are not likely that low, though tractors do turn up sometimes with decent underacarriages, and in a condition where someone could dod something with them, you really need to assess what is there, track components should be measured up, and the entire tractor inspected, these are not small and easy to work on, can be a real project, but if you are aware of that, then you know what I am talking about. Those serial number tags should be in the locations mentioned, but for unknown reasons, if not there, you would have to carefully clean the areas where they were, on the back you should at least find evidence of the fasteners, fastener holes, providing it's location, that is where you need to carefully remove rust, paint etc, without abrasively wearing through the stamped numbers that should be under wear the serial number tag once was, try both areas and see if you can find that much, those fasteners.īack of the tractor sounds like someone cannibalized it, 1st you should find out who owns it or establish ownership of it after finding out same. Hi Billy Many thanks for your mail and the photo of the D7 (nice machine).I have gone back to look at the D8 I had to spend two hours cutting my way through the trees and prickerly bracken to get to the back of the machine, unfortunatly everything on the back has been taken off icluding the drawbar which has been cut through with oxy acetalene tourch, what scum bag did this?.The ID plate is not there, there is a round plate missing and I can see through to the crown wheel (Very rusty). If this was to be filled with diesel fuel and left for a couple of months do you think it would free off?.The main clutch is stuck,is it a dry plate or is it run in oil? How do you suggest to free it?.I have looked behind the donkey engine and cannot find any ID #.I looked at the hour clock on the fuel injection pump and it shows only 512 hours, surely this cannot be true, there are four drums of figures, the first should be zero but there is nothing at all,Do you think someone has removed the first row of figuers?.One last thing where is the hydraulic storage tank?.
